He is young, only 22 years old and may develop into a nice player. I'd rather have Melky or Ellsbury. I think this is a great deal for the Mets. I don't think the Mets will miss these prospects and they are getting perhaps the best pitcher in the game. A starting staff of Santana, Pedro Martinez, John Maine, Oliver Perez, and Orlando Hernandez, is the best in the National League. I'm not sure what the Twins are getting in return, especially when you consider what they walked away from. .
First Look: MacBook Pro: First day, first Lab tests
Our best test result right now: the Universal version of Cinema 4D XL, a processor-intensive rendering application, which was 3.3 times faster on the 2GHz MacBook Pro than on the 1.67GHz PowerBook G4. Unreal Tournament 2004 took advantage of both the Intel processor and the MacBook Pro's seriously upgraded video subsystems to post a frame rate 2.5 times greater than that of the PowerBook G4. These results bode well for use of the systems with Universal versions of professional applications and games. (And keep in mind that other Universal applications will likely get faster over time as they are optimized for Intel processors and increasingly take advantage of multiple processor cores.) Our first Rosetta test on the MacBook Pro was our standard 14-task Photoshop CS2 suite, and the PowerBook G4 completed that task roughly 1.7 times as fast as the MacBook Pro.
NATO troops deployed to Kosovo
SERBIAN President Boris Tadic warned of ethnic unrest if Kosovo unilaterally declares independence, as a NATO commander said extra forces were being deployed to the Serbian province. "Unilateral moves will prompt a response. This will not lead us to peace," said Mr Tadic, the day after last gasp talks between Kosovan and Serbian leaders in Austria collapsed ahead of a December 10 deadline. "Such action... would lead us from one impasse to another," he said from Ankara, where he is on a two-day visit. He added: "Serbia does not want war." The commando of NATO-led troops in Kosovo said 90 US soldiers had been deployed to reinforce 2800 peacekeepers already positioned across the Serb-dominated north of the province in case violence broke out.

It's not looking good at the moment, is it? 11:50 P.M. Here's Andrew Sullivan on "f-----" in 2001, basically saying what Ann Coulter says now: There are similar problems with the term 'faggot.' In his early days, Eminem said he had nothing against gay people, just faggots. Just as not all gay men were faggots, not all black guys are niggers. The question is whether this is one step toward enlightenment or one step back toward bigotry. I'm inclined to think that, in the younger generation, the use of such terms need not be prima facie case of prejudice. It's quite common, for example, for high school kids to use the word 'gay' to describe anything they don't particularly like. It has no tangible reference to homosexuals - although it hardly bespeaks acceptance. But in general, the use of the term now is far less ominous than it would have been ten years ago.

"Landslide" is not a strong enough word for Mitt Romney's victory in Nevada's Republican caucuses Saturday. The former Massachusetts governor, who was the only Republican to mount a serious campaign in the state, took 52 percent of the vote, defeating his nearest rival by nearly 40 percentage points in a field of seven candidates. "It feels great," Matt Romney, the second-oldest of the candidate's five sons, said in an interview as the final results came in Saturday afternoon. "To me, it sends a signal that the people of Nevada, just like Michigan and Wyoming, have said that his message is resonating." More than 40,000 Republicans turned out for their first-ever caucuses, even though the attention paid to their side and the effort put into it was a fraction of the Democrats'.
