There are spider webs not nearly as entangled or twisted as the strange odyssey involving left-handed pitcher Martin Villanueva of Los Angeles Roosevelt.

In January, Villanueva, a two-time All-City selection, dropped out of school and left for Mexico after being told a contract he had signed with the Mexico City Red Devils made him ineligible for high school sports. The Red Devils play in the Mexican summer league and are under the jurisdiction of minor league baseball.

Why aren't there more positive stories about teachers?

Question: After reading this Sunday paper I have a question for you. How many positive front page stories have you done on the teaching profession? Any person in any profession that helps young people that betrays the trust should at least go away for life, sick or not. I think most would agree to that. My point however is that I see great teachers every day doing great things. Why not do a monthly story on them on your front page. I see teachers helping students in need. Teachers working weekends, holidays, and bring work home every night. I see teachers giving everything they have to help a child that everyone else has forgotten. I see teachers everyday who care for the hundreds of students that walk into their school. All I ask you is, why you havent reported on them. I think I know the answer, do you? Thank you for your time.

Development eating away productive ground

For some reason the Bee decided not to allow me to post. I am trying again to see if they will reconsider. In short, the rumor is not true. The county has NO intent to regulate domestic animals in the county. We want to encourage rural lifestyles and agriculture. We are holding public meetings every other Thursday at 6 pm at the Federal bldg to work through the proposed ordinances. The public is welcome. First meeting this Thursday the 17th. I agree with Marjorie Kinney that ag and forest land is critically important and appreciate her involvment. " .
